Philadelphia Ties

You simply cannot help but be inspired when you watch smart young people take their brilliant ideas and run with them. That’s exactly the opportunity Linebarger Philadelphia Managing Partner Sharon Humble had when she learned about an innovative program aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs.

Philadelphia is one of more than 100 communities nationwide to play host to a chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, or YEA! Philadelphia. As this article from the Philadelphia Inquirer says, “Its mission is to teach entrepreneurial skills to students in grades six through 12 with an after-school program rare in its scope and structure.”

The article features 15-year-old Shreyas Parab, whose novelty tie company gained the support of the YEA! Philadelphia program and is now taking off. At the time of this writing, he’s awaiting word from executives from Sam’s Club as to whether they’ll carry his line of ties.

Humble got involved earlier this year, putting up some investment funds and serving as a judge on the investor’s panel. “It’s a terrific program and I can’t tell you how much fun it is to meet these brilliant youngsters who are the future business leaders of America. I can assure you, our economy will be in good hands,” Humble said.
