JJ Wells combines tax role expertise with legal experience to assist in the recovery of outstanding receivables for the firm’s public-sector clients.

Since joining the firm in November 2021, Mr. Wells has provided litigation support to clients in central and south Texas. In 2025, Mr. Wells also served as Director of Analytics & Discovery over the Homestead Exemption Analysis division before joining the firm’s Victoria office.  

Originally from Pleasanton, Texas, Mr. Wells attended the University of Texas at Austin, earning his undergraduate degree in Journalism. In 2009, he enrolled in the Texas Tech School of Law and became a licensed attorney in 2012.

Mr. Wells began his career as a title examiner in Midland. He worked in private practice based in San Marcos and then Luling before joining the Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office. His time at the DA’s office was initially as a prosecutor and later as the sole attorney dedicated to non-criminal County matters and the primary legal resource for the Caldwell County Commissioners Court.
