Chief Technology Officer Recognized as an Honored Alumni
Linebarger’s Chief Technology Officer LeWayne Ballard received the Spirit of the Jaguar award during the Texas A&M University-San Antonio (TAMUSA) Alumni Awards Ceremony. This award is given to alumni who serve the University or community at large by way of volunteerism and community service projects.
“I am very grateful to have received the Spirit of the Jaguar award,” Said LeWayne. “Giving back brings the best out of our community and our students. TAMUSA has created a diverse and inclusive community that I am proud to be a part of.”
LeWayne graduated from TAMUSA, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems and his MBA. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in organizational leadership from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.
LeWayne volunteers with Meals-on-Wheels, Adopt-a-Family, and is an advocate for blood donation. He also donates to the A&M-San Antionio Generals Food Pantry. LeWayne also mentors students, providing them paid internships at Lineberger. He launched this program to give high school and college students experience with project management, programming, database administration, and system engineering. Approximately 50 students have been provided internships over the past five years.
The Alumni Awards Ceremony is an annual event held on the first day of Fall Fest. Fall Fest is a campus event that provides student organizations with opportunities to fundraise for their groups. Three awards are given each year, The Recent GraduateĀ Award, the Spirit of the Jaguar Award, and the Distinguished Alumni Award.
