Linebarger Partner Hosts Webinar on Courts During COVID-19

Partner Alan Bush moderated a webinar for the Montgomery County Bar Association (MCBA) in Texas on July 28, discussing the Montgomery County court system during COVID-19.

Joining Bush during the webinar was the Honorable Lisa Michalk, 221st District Court Judge and Kristin Bays, 284th District Court, along with the Honorable County Court at Law #2 Judge Claudia Laird. The panelists discussed how courts in Montgomery County are adjusting and operating during the current public health crisis. They also talked about general court procedures, plans, and recent Texas Supreme Court orders.

“We never thought we’d go to court on our laptop – or our phone. Or that we couldn’t see a witness’s bottom half. But here we are,” said Bush. “Our judicial panel talked about how they’ve handled the COVID-19 environment with justice and grace. We hope that our fellow counsel logged off with some practical tools to better navigate Montgomery County courts.”

Over 60 participants attended the live event, while others watched the recorded webinar. By two days after the live webinar, over 60% of the MCBA’s membership had attended or watched the recorded webinar.
