This year, Linebarger’s incredible team has been hard at work giving back to the communities we proudly serve. From volunteering at food banks to supporting local youth programs, our staff has exemplified our commitment to strengthening the communities we call home.
Lucy Canales, Managing Partner of the Edinburg office, remarked, “In 2024, our team has shown incredible dedication to giving back, from sponsoring organizations to hands-on volunteering in the community. I’m proud of the difference we’ve made together.”
We couldn’t be prouder of the dedication and compassion our staff continues to show.
Linebarger Austin Volunteers at First Tee Tournament
November 04, 2024
Members of our Austin office participated in the First Tee – Greater Austin Captain’s Cup Golf Tournament fundraiser in November, held at the prestigious UT Golf Club. This annual event combines a love of golf with a passion for giving back and plays a crucial role in supporting First Tee’s mission to shape young lives through the game of golf.
Our team of volunteers took charge of two key stations on the golf course, where they welcomed tournament participants, distributed First Tee golf shirts, and shared in the day’s excitement.
Beyond volunteering, our firm also took part in the tournament itself. Representing us on the course were esteemed colleagues and a client, including retired Partner Chris Young, Austin Partner Steve Bird, Matthew Allen of Caldwell County Appraisal District, and Austin Legal Secretary Robert (Kyle) Cardinell. This formidable team completed all 18 holes, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and charity that defines this event.
Linebarger team members both volunteered at the event and participated in the tournament.
The funds raised during the Captain’s Cup are vital to First Tee – Greater Austin’s efforts to provide young participants with golf clubs, instruction, and resources that not only teach athletic skills but also impart valuable life lessons like resilience, integrity, and perseverance.
We are immensely proud of our volunteers and players who dedicated their time and effort to making this event a success. A special thanks goes to Jennifer MacCurrach for her exceptional coordination, ensuring our involvement in this impactful day of community support.
Thank you to First Tee – Greater Austin for allowing us to be part of this incredible fundraiser. We look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting their mission to inspire the next generation of leaders.
World Humanitarian Day Highlights Dedicated Volunteers
August 19, 2024
On World Humanitarian Day, we recognize the exceptional contributions of three members of our Austin office’s Community Engagement Committee (CEC) who were chosen for their consistent participation in the firm’s volunteer efforts.
Stephanie Mendoza cites her passion for giving back and reason for participating in regular volunteer opportunities. “I want to be a part of a group of like-minded individuals who dedicate time to serving the community. My favorite volunteer opportunity this year was helping at the Central Texas Food Bank. It was amazing to see how just a few hours could make a significant impact on feeding those in need.”
Lisa Varner has displayed a lifelong dedication to volunteerism and embodies our firm’s mission to serve the communities where we live and work. “I have been giving back all my life. I have been blessed immensely, so I want to pay it forward,” she says.
Michael Watts also shares a lifelong commitment to volunteerism and believes in the power of kindness. “Committing to helping others, whether it’s seen or unseen, is what living is really about,” he says.
At our firm, we are committed to fostering a culture of service that results in tangible outcomes in our communities. We know that community engagement is more than just a commitment; it’s a core value that guides us every day in our work with clients.
Join us in recognizing our remarkable volunteers and share this post with a humanitarian whose dedication exemplifies true service.
Linebarger’s Austin Office Supports Hospitalized Children
May 20, 2024
Staff of Linebarger’s Austin office recently undertook a heartwarming initiative that embodies the firm’s spirit of giving and engaging in communities where we live and work. The firm coordinated with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas to donate 50 activity kits to children hospitalized at Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin.
Our dedicated team prepared activity bags thoughtfully filled with fun and engaging items, including small stuffed animals, stickers, puzzles, toys, and unique inspirational messages for the kids. Each item was carefully chosen to provide a happy distraction for children facing the challenges of hospitalization. Given the stress that hospitalization can bring to children and their families, we hope these gifts can brighten the children’s days and offer them a sense of normalcy through their hospital stay.
The Ronald McDonald House is a critical connector of community support for children and families in need, and we appreciate the opportunities it provides for our firm to continue serving our local community.
In addition to this event, Linebarger hosted several volunteer events with the foundation last year, including preparing breakfast and lunch for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House through their child’s hospitalization. The Austin office has volunteered with Ronald McDonald House previously and has several more events planned later this year, and we look forward to our continued partnership with the foundation and the support they help us bring to our neighbors in Austin.
