El Paso Partner Provides Career Leadership

February 20, 2024

Esther Alarcon, a Linebarger Partner in El Paso, spoke at a Galantine Career Mentor Lunch at the Ysleta Independent School District’s Young Women’s Leadership Academy in February.

The Ysleta Young Women’s Leadership Academy is the only free, all-girl, college preparatory public school in West Texas serving grades six through 12, which opened in the 2016-2017 school year.

About a dozen local professional women spoke during the Galantine Career Mentor Lunch, including a local judge, attorney, police officer, communication’s director, among others.

“I was honored to speak to these young women whose future is full of so much promise,” says Alarcon, who is an El Paso native. “It is a privilege to be able to show others that goals and dreams are attainable”.

The majority of YWLA students belong to historically underrepresented ethnic groups, and/or are the first in their family to attend college. Each year, 100% of students graduate from YWLA and matriculate to a four-year accredited college or university. So far, this year’s graduating class has been awarded $90 million in scholarships.
