Linebarger Volunteers Create Student Garden

March 27, 2024

Over one weekend in March, Linebarger volunteers from the Dallas office transformed a bare courtyard into a thriving outdoor classroom and recreational space.

The Maple Lawn Elementary Garden Beautification Project focused on the school’s north Dallas campus, where approximately 500 pre-K through fifth grade students attend. Our volunteers removed existing landscaping and installed flowers and classroom growing spaces, transforming the area into a beautiful outdoor garden for both students and teachers to enjoy. Lowe’s Home Improvement company sponsored the project.

Now that the heavy lifting is complete, Maple Lawn Elementary students are working on planting vegetable seeds in the assigned class plots. A large sand pit will provide a calming space for students who need to reset before returning to class. This improvement is especially meaningful for the elementary school that has a high percentage of students who are experiencing homelessness.

This volunteer project is just one of many for the Linebarger’s Dallas office, which has adopted Maple Lawn Elementary as a long term partner. Our engagement extends to the school’s Book Buddy Program, where our Dallas staff members tutor first through third graders in reading throughout the school year.
