Pete Slover Named Director of Governmental Affairs

Linebarger proudly announces the appointment of Peter J. Slover as its new Director of Governmental Affairs. In his new role, Slover will be responsible for spearheading Linebarger’s government relations strategy, cultivating relationships with key lawmakers and stakeholders, and advocating for the firm’s interests in the ever-evolving legislative landscape.

Slover, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, has a remarkable track record in state and local tax, investigative and government journalism, and legal practice. Prior to joining Linebarger in 2017 as the Director of Analytics and Discovery for the firm’s Homestead Exemption Analysis team, Slover served as Vice President of Legal Services at the Pedernales Electric Cooperative and as Special Counsel and Director of Criminal Investigations at the Texas State Comptroller. His journey includes a distinguished two-decade tenure as an investigative and government reporter for the Houston Chronicle and The Dallas Morning News, during which he played a pivotal role in groundbreaking stories that shook the foundations of power.

Pete Slover earned his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Southern Methodist University in 1982. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1986.
