Linebarger Managing Partner Receives Historic Recognition

March 03, 2024

Bridget Lopez, Managing Partner of the Dallas Office, made history this month as the first Hispanic alumnus to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Texas Tech University School of Law. The Distinguished Alumni Award, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, recognizes an alumnus who has made significant contributions to the legal profession and their communities.

Lopez, whose family located to Lubbock in the 1940s to work as cotton farmers, expressed gratitude for her family’s sacrifices and resilience. Reflecting on her journey, Lopez proudly thanked her grandparents for “the sacrifices, love, and obstacles they overcame to make it possible for their granddaughter to become a lawyer and the first Hispanic to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award.”

Lopez, who graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1999, encouraged today’s law students to believe in the possibility of success and to embrace failure as a stepping stone toward growth and strength. “This recognition was not something I could have ever imagined while studying law. To all of you who are in law school or starting your professional journey, believe it is possible. Failure is part of reaching your goals and it makes you stronger,” Lopez said.

Lopez joined Linebarger in 2004 and ascended to the role of managing partner of the Dallas office in 2014. She has been recognized among “Texas Super Lawyers” by Texas Monthly Magazine and is actively involved in Dallas-area professional and community groups that champion equity and empowerment initiatives.

Lopez received the honor at the Texas Tech University’s 20th Annual Law School Scholarship Gala on March 2, 2024.
